Share: Keep Calm
Who haven't seen this poster yet? It's everywhere. Well I haven't seen it on walls yet. but I've seen it a dozen times on several blogs and sites. It's a popular slogan intending to raise the morale of British public during World War II. It was formed by British Government as a propaganda during the invasion. This poster has a very strong impact on me. It's gives a motivation and courage to believe that everything will be alright in the end. So cheer up and let's stay positive!
It is believed that most of the Keep Calm posters were destroyed and reduced to a pulp at the end of the war in 1945. However, nearly 60 years later, a bookseller from Barter Books stumbled across a copy hidden amongst a pile of dusty old books bought from an auction.
Sadly no record remains of the unknown Civil Servant who originally came up with the simple and quintessential Britishness of the Keep Calm and Carry On message. However, it is wonderful to think that all these years later people still find it so appealing and reassuring in our modern times.
They have pretty useful items with this message:

So this is how the slogan came about! I often seen these around and also spin offs such as "Keep calm. Have a cupcake". I never knew its rich history. Thank you so much for sharing this nugget of information and the beautifully made video, Macy. I like that I could pick up new knowledge from reading blogs.
